Aerospace Manufacturing in Mexico is the Subject of Offshore Group Podcast
The executive director of the Mexican Federation of Aerospace Industries provides an overview of the origins of aerospace manufacturing in Mexico and a vision as to where he believes the industry is heading over the medium and long terms.

TUCSON, AZ, July 12, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Carlos Bello, executive director of the Mexican Federation of Aerospace Industries, recently sat down with The Offshore Group to discuss the current state of affairs in Mexico's rapidly developing aerospace sector.

During the session, Bello informed that Mexico is currently home to 232 aerospace and aerospace industry related companies that employ a combined 29,000 workers. According to Bello, "In recent years, aerospace manufacturing in Mexico has been "experiencing a growth rate of about 20% annually, with the exception of 2009, which was a difficult year for the aerospace industry worldwide. However in 2010, the industry started to recover, and continues to make forward strides to date." He also explained that although sixteen Mexican states are home to aerospace manufacturing firms, the lion's share of the activity in the sector occurs in five entities: Baja California, Sonora, Chihuahua, Nuevo Leon and Queretaro.

In the podcast Bello asserted that "while aerospace manufacturing in Mexico today is characterized by the production of specialized and non-specialized wire harnesses and cable assemblies, fuselage aerostructures, landing gears, engine parts and turbines, and composite structures, steadily improving links between academia and industry are creating an engineering workforce that will enable Mexico to move up the aerospace industry value chain over time."

Individuals that are interested in listening to the discussion in its entirety can access it on The Offshore Group's Mexico outsourcing podcast page. Additional Mexico business and industry information can be accessed by subscribing to Offshore Group RSS Feeds.
