As a teacher for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Mrs. Scott is responsible for teaching seventh- and eighth-grade mathematics, pre-algebra and mathematics concepts. She works at Seco Seals, Inc., which was established by her father-In-law In 1969 and specializes in the manufacture and sale of Conical Seals for 37 degree flared tube fittings. Her father-in-law, Jim SCott Sr., develop the Conical Seal in the late 1950s for the early space program. Seco Seals still manufactures and sells the SEC07 as well as other metal tube fitting gaskets, and are the World leader In Aerospace gaskets since 1969.

Among her responsibilities as a business owner and teacher. Mrs. Scott Invites her students to work at seco seals Inc. to experience real life mathematical situations, such as earning a paycheck, learning about taxes and checking, savings accounts and balancing a checkbook. Both her father and mother-in-law were teachers who started the company together. She attributes her success to the support she received from her husband, Jim Scott Jr.

Mrs. Scott holds a Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Bachelor's Degree in Management, MBA and a Master of Education Degree. She is also a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and The California Reader Association, She hopes to teach at a junior college while working on her doctorate.
