New TSA Security Screenings Raise Interest in Private Jet Charter for Commercial Airline Travelers
Stratos Jet Charters reports an uptick in requests from traditional commercial travelers for private jet charter flights.
WINTER PARK, FL, November 24, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Stratos Jet Charters, Inc., a worldwide air charter agency, reported that they have seen a noticeable uptick in requests from first time charter flyers seeking to avoid the new TSA security screenings.
In early November 2010, the Transportation Security Administration introduced enhanced security screening procedures at 70 major commercial airports throughout the United States. Airline passengers departing from one of these selected airports are required to undergo enhanced full body scans or may elect to undergo a full body "pat down." The newly introduced security screenings have become somewhat controversial with over 700 travelers filing complaints on the TSA.
The full body scanners provide TSA Officers with clear images of the passenger's entire body and could potentially expose travelers to high levels of harmful radiation. The alternative "pat-down" procedure subjects travelers to uncomfortable touching; described by many angry travelers as "legalized sexual harassment."
As a result of the increased level of security at commercial airports, Stratos Jet Charters reports that it has seen a noticeable increase in requests for private jet charter flights. According to Joel Thomas, President of Stratos Jet Charters, the increase in requests has translated into bookings by several first-time private jet charter flyers. Thomas went on to say that "we are happy to see an increased interest in private aviation and are happy to assist would-be commercial flyers with their holiday travels."
Thomas went on to say that, "Travelers seeking alternatives to the long lines and increased security of commercial travel should know that private aviation should not be considered an 'economical alternative' and that travelers should expect pricing to be well above the commercial first-class ticket even on a unit basis as they are chartering the entire aircraft."
